The sunsets on Chelsea beach are breathtaking and it’s one of Melbourne’s most beautiful beaches with access for both locals and out of towners made easy with excellent parking at various locations.  

Chelsea is bookended by seaside suburbs Edithvale and Bonbeach which share something particularly special.  In Chelsea many homes literally sit on the beachfront with unobscured views. The homes in the small cul-de-sacs leading from Nepean Highway to the beach are also rare and this incredible residential beach access is one of Chelsea’s unique features shared only by a select group of suburbs in all of Melbourne.  No matter where you are in Chelsea, the beach is virtually on your doorstep.

Chelsea train station sits directly across from a busy retail precinct including the Chelsea Beach Arcade, major banks, supermarket, chemists and the like. There are several great cafes and restaurants in and around Nepean Highway and Station Street. Chelsea is also close to Frankston shopping centre and about a twenty minute drive to Southland, however because of its immediate facilities and easy access to Mordialloc, Edithvale and Patterson Lakes, Chelsea residents often prefer local shopping. 

Chelsea’s bayside heritage is evidenced by its 1917 established surf life saving club and the nearby Chelsea Yacht club established in 1938. Chelsea Primary and St Joseph’s Primary are amongst the great schools in the area and Mordialloc College is a short journey away. Mentone Girls, Mentone Grammar and St Bede’s are also close by.

Chesea’s Victory Park and Bicentennial Park are amongst the easy to access recreational grounds along with many sporting ground amenities including the Chelsea Junior Footy Club and the Chelsea Cricket Club. Chelsea Little Athletics Club and the Chelsea Dolphins Baseball Club are also located in nearby Edithvale. The local library is located in Chelsea Road, walking distance from Chelsea station.
